personal, customized, authentic
Can’t quite find the right painting, at the right time, at the size? Kate’s pieces do often sell very fast so sometimes the better option is to get a commission of your own.
Commissions are a great way to get exactly the right-sized painting suitable for your walls at your budget. It means that a painting is created to your specifications, an original just for you, between you and the artist. Kate does commissions all the time so there’s no guess-work with the process, it’s quite straight-forward! No size is out of the question, either! Commissions can be petite or huge, it’s up to you.
Step One – Send an Enquiry
Firstly, you can make an enquiry anytime about commissions. Obligation free, Kate will provide a quote and any other answers relevant to your particular requirements. It is recommended that you have either a specific painting or series in mind as a basis for the commission.
Note: Kate does not do exact replicas – the original is hanging on someone’s wall already! However, your potential painting can be close to the original with minor changes so that yours is specifically yours. On the other hand, if you have certain parts of a painting that you love and aren’t fussed about the rest, that’s perfect. The initial discussions can prise out what you are looking for.
Step Two – Deposit
To commit to a commission, a 50% deposit is required to start the work process. EFT is the preferred payment method but other options can be discussed.
Step Three – Sketch
Sometimes a rough sketch is necessary for you to see generally what composition the new painting will have. One will be provided for your approval. This step is not always necessary.
Step Four – Progress Pics
Photos of how the work is going will be provided so you can see it in it’s messy inital stages all the way to the finished product. A true behind-the-curtain opportunity. This is also to make sure you are happy with what’s being put onto the canvas.
Note: Currently the average commission time-frame is six weeks, not including shipping. During peak times you may need to book your commission in in advance or you may choose to book in a commission for a certain time of year depending on your schedule.
Step Five – Final Payment
Upon final approval, the remainder of the total price is required before you receive/are sent the painting.
Step Six – Shipping or Pick-up
The finished painting is professionally packaged up and sent either via courier or post, depending on size and country. Or, if you are local, a pickup or delivery can be arranged.
Note: Shipping costs are quoted/explained during initial enquiries.
Kate does not frame any of her work, it is left up to the taste of the buyer after purchase. It is the advice of the artist that while frames have their place, the sides of Kate’s pieces are painted in a continuance of the composition so in her humble opinion no frames are needed for these bright and contemporary pieces. But if framing is something that you really really want then a quote can be provided.
Note: All paintings are provided with wire on the back so as soon as they come out of the box they can be put straight on the wall.
